Recruiters Use LinkedIn to Find Candidates
First off, 87% of recruiters turn to LinkedIn to find candidates for their roles! In fact, 122 million people received an interview through a recruiter on LinkedIn. In addition, recruiters are reviewing over hundreds of applicants for a single role. Consequently, recruiters are relying heavily on keyword search tools.
Optimizing LinkedIn for Keywords
In response, recruiters turn to keyword optimization methods to ensure they find the right candidates. As a result, if your LinkedIn profile isn’t optimized for the right keywords, you may be missing out on opportunities. In other words, your LinkedIn profile is less likely to be discovered by recruiters who are actively searching for candidates!
Leveraging LinkedIn for Negotiating Equitable Pay
Even if you aren’t actively looking for a role, having an updated LinkedIn with keyword optimization will attract recruiters. Many times, recruiters will reach out regarding opportunities and provide salary range insight for similar roles to yours. If you are getting underpaid, this is a great way to leverage competitor compensation to increase your salary in your current role. In other words, you can use competitor compensation information as leverage to negotiate a more equitable salary at work.
